We are able to offer you this great deal because we have collected several hundred pounds of genuine natural High End Carnelian rough direct from Washington State. Washington has some of the world’s most expensive and nicest Carnelian specimens. We will be dividing them up into 1 pound lots for this auction.
Carnelian (also sometimes referred to as cornelian) is a variety of chalcedony. The most favorable pieces are a deep red to red-orange hue. Carnelian has a long and storied past, and was once considered strictly the property of the noble class. People holding a high social status were often buried with this gem stone.
